Advocacy:

AFA uses Sports and community services projects to advocate for women and young girls rights.

Sports have been tested and proved to bring people from diverse background together in a post conflict setting. These were seen in Liberia, Sierra Leone among other nations that have grown from war. There, the 2017 Yali Alumni Project aims to empower young girls in Juba to use sport in changing their communities. Girls sport team will be used to compete among each other during community mobilization processes. Girls are so long been ignored in South Sudan, so using girls teams will give as an advantage of pulling the boys around the areas where the competition will be run.

Vision: A society where all LGBTI refugee, Women have full access to health, economic and social needs in Uganda and to invest more in building a world of rights, respect and tolerance of refugees women,LGBTI in Uganda

BACKGROUND:

Access For All( AFA) was originally founded in Southern Sudan working towards promoting the rights and respect of sexual minorities( LGBTI Q) in February 201 6 in Juba due to the social Injustice, violence and discrimination faced by LBTI persons in the region. In the same year the organization was shut down by the government and the founders sought asylum in Uganda. But when they reached, they realized that urban LGBTI refugees faced heightened Gender Based Violence risks due to unmet multiple and complex social, economic and medical needs as well as intersecting oppressions based on race, ethnicity, nationality, language, sexual orientation and gender identity. This exacerbated due to the fact that humanitarian actors have no programs serving refugees in the cities and less concern has been taken to cater for LGBTI refugees. Moreover sex work and homosexuality is illegal in Uganda and the laws governing refugees are restrictive. Hence AFA was rebounded to contribute to the promotion of health rights and dignity of urban refugee sexual minorities groups in Uganda.
